You have probably noticed that some of our staff and students have been out of school recently, that's because the flu (influenza) has been going around. Here are some ways to avoid it!
  • Don't share food and drinks
This may sound like it's super obvious but this a common way that the virus is spread
  • Get vaccinated if you can
Getting a flu shot isn't always 100% effective but better safe than sorry
  •  If you have symptoms STAY HOME
If you still go to school/work when you are showing symptoms of the flu you are going to spread it, even if you are being careful and washing your hands. Not only would you be preventing yourself from healing but you’d get other people sick. Just stay home.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth
If you have come in contact with an infected person or have been in a public area then you need to avoid touching areas on your face.
  • Wash your hands
Even if you haven't been in contact with  people or areas that are infected, you should still wash your hands because you're keeping yourself clean and you are keeping your immune system strong will help you fight viruses off.
  • Cover your face when you cough or sneeze with your elbow
This is common courtesy, no one likes it when you get them sick. Just cough or sneeze into your elbow, also if you are coughing and sneezing around people it is likely that they will not want to be around you.

Flu symptoms:
Fever
Chills
Muscle aches
Cough
Congestion
Fatigue
Sneezing
Throwing up or Nausea
Sore throat
Loss of appetite
Headaches

If you are showing a combination of these symptoms, you should stay home.
