Have you ever been so bored that you start whining to your parents saying “mom/dad I want to do something fun”? Well we've got quite a few options for you to choose from:
Fun depot is a place where people go for birthday parties or just for fun. Fun depot is an arcade place. If your worried about your babies, they can go too, upstairs there is a play house and it is super fun, and there are inflatables but a parent has to be with them most of the time. I recommend doing laser tag, it is super fun and if you have a big family this is especially going to be fun. It gives you a little competition with your family and you’ll have a blast. I also recommend go-karts, indoor and outdoor. If you're tall enough you can drive yourself, but you have to be eleven or older.
The Nature Center is a good place to go if you love animals. The nature center has animals from a-z. The nature center also helps animals that have been hurt before. My personal favorite animal at the nature center is the cougar! Mariela said that her favorite animal is the cougar too! The nature center also has a petting zoo. https://wildwnc.org/
Chimney Rock State Park
Chimney Rock is one of North Carolina’s State parks. In my personal experience, I got to see the mountains and beautiful sights that were unforgettable. You can walk up to the top or even climb to the top according to ncparks.org, but sadly they're not open Wednesday and Thursdays. I think that Chimney rock is one of the best places in North Carolina that you could ever visit.
Cinemark Movie Theater
The Cinemark movie theater is a nice movie theater, they have very comfortable seats. On Tuesday it is only 5 dollars!! They even have reclining seats, and when you get there you have to reserve your seat. They have amazing movies there to watch, like the new movies “Black Panther” and “A Wrinkle in time”. While you're there you can recline in your chair and have a good time with your friends or family.
Do you like burritos or tacos? Well Mamacita’s is the place for you. Mamacitas is a Mexican food place. It’s full of different varieties of hispanic foods. They even have food for vegetarians. Mamacitas was opened in 2004. Mamacitas is famous for their amazing hispanic inspired food and their variety of food.
Do you like jumping? Well Skyzone is the place for you. Skyzone is a super fun place. Sky Zone even has baby places where the babies can jump in a foam pit. Do you also like basketball? Well skyzone has basketball, if you're short they have a small goal, if you're mid size they have a medium size, and if you're tall they have a big goal. They have an obstacle course, it is super hard and if you don't feel like waiting they have two obstacle courses. They also have a climbing wall. The climbing wall is hard too.

Nowadays, students find themselves pre-occupied when it comes down to getting a good night's sleep. Going on to the next day, they’ll find themselves sulking like zombies throughout their classes, bragging about the 4-6 hours of sleep they got. Then when school is over, they won’t do their homework after school and make sure to get a solid amount of sleep, but do the same thing as the day before.
Today, we have so many social media platforms bragging and telling kids how it’s “cool” to get no sleep and pull all nighters, making the idea of late nights form in students head. As much as we try to blame the homework or after school activities, there is always a way to get to bed on time! Here are some of the life changing ways to insure your time asleep:
1. Putting your phone away for the thirty minutes to an hour before you plan on falling asleep.
2. Getting school work done ASAP!
3. Cool down the temperature in your bedroom.
4. Wear socks to bed.
5. Hide your clock!
Getting a good amount of sleep is essential for every student! We can’t let ourselves fall for the idea that being tired and zombie-like is a good trait. And as much as it's understandable that sometimes we’re just overwhelmed with homework, we can’t let our school selves be the victim.

An optimist is someone who tends to be happy and hopeful for future events that could happen, somebody who doesn't look on the down side. These people have smiles on their faces, even in dark times. In the world, there are very few optimists. Society today has a norm of negativity that floats around in the air for each person to breathe in. Negativity can appear in things people around you say, things people around you do, and things that you yourself decide to think or take action on.
Many people these days don't pay attention to negative comments. In fact, at least half of all the words people say show an emotion that is negative. This could be because of many reasons, such as issues relating to home, influences around you, fights with friends, and more. However, there are ways to alter your mindset to help prevent a large amount of negative/sad thoughts and actions.
For example, one way in which you can change your mindset is by recognizing your thoughts. If you are walking down the street, sometimes the thoughts going on inside your head can go by without you truly even acknowledging them. So, if you can take recognition to what you are thinking and it is negative, one way to stop these thoughts is by redirecting those feelings to positive ones. Another way you can make your mindset seem cheerier is by doing something that seems like a simple task, like saying thank you. People say thank you many times a day, for things ranging from another person holding open a door for you, to a waitress bringing you food. Although this is a good start, it won't make a huge impact on your mind. What matters is getting into a sort of schedule for saying thank you.
If people can write down every morning three things they are thankful for, it can make them more appreciative of the things around them. Another thing you could do with these grateful thoughts is put them into an email. Writing to people in your life about how you value their influence on you can not only make your relationship with them stronger, but also start off the other person's day on a higher note. Over the course of time, the more you do this, the more friendships you will have that have gained the benefit of this practice.
Being grateful for things in your life can change your viewpoint. Everyday, the more things you can think of that make you happy, the greater the effect of it. If your current point of view is looking at things in a negative manner, thinking of those things in a happier way can reconstruct how you think. The more joyful ideas that you put into your reconstruction can influence that many things in your life to make them more enjoyable. Changing your mindset can be hard, but if the proper amount of work is put in, it can be done. All of the examples listed in the above paragraphs show ways in which you can alter a mindset. Reaping the benefits of happiness will always be one of the grandest prizes someone can achieve.

As a student you hear about climate change in school, on the news, and on social media. We know that the global warming rate is going twice as fast as it was in 1998 and this can’t be good for the planet. Those of us who believe that climate change is real probably stress about the end of the world and hope we don’t have to experience it. We want to contribute to the downfall of our planet as little as possible, but it’s difficult because kids as young as we are don’t own a house or a car. These are some tips you can use as a student to help the earth.
1- Use beauty products without microbeads: Many beauty products have ‘microbeads’ which are tiny plastic particles used as an exfoliant in facewashes and even toothpastes. The trouble with these are, after they wash down the drain, they don’t biodegrade and are too small to be able to be captured by wastewater facilities so they end up in our rivers, lakes and oceans.
2- Compost and recycle: If you are capable, it’s important to keep as little trash in the landfill as possible because it’s awful for the earth. Recycling and composting trash helps you lessen the amount of pollution you’re responsible for.
3- Carpool and ride the bus: Driving to and from school is a daily task that takes lots of energy. Riding the bus or getting a ride with someone creates way less pollution on your part because there aren’t as many vehicles involved.
4- Change lightbulbs to led in your house: This is a step you may not be able to do depending on your situation, but making sure the lightbulbs in your house are LED uses way less energy, and it’s even better if you can convert to solar panels.
5- Eat less meat: This is probably the hardest step, but the meat and food industry is the number 4th cause for global warming. Eating less or even cutting meat out of your diet is so helpful for the earth. If everyone ate less meat,The earth would do so much better.

Okay so have you ever seen on youtube “Trying Starbucks secret menu”? If you haven’t, I will tell you all about it!
First here is one I tasted and I recommend that you get. The pink drink: the pink drink is a drink with strawberries and it’s pink (duh). So this is how you will order it “may i have a strawberry acai refresher, instead of water can I have coconut milk, and can you please add strawberries." Ok let me tell you, I dislike coconut stuff, but I know what you're thinking you like the drink and it has coconut milk in it. You can’t taste the coconut that’s why I really love it.
So here is another drink that I really wanna try, and trust me if you love gummy bears you will love this drink... Gummy bear: so this is how you will order it “may i have a acai refresher with 2 pumps of peach syrup and 2 pumps of raspberry syrup."
Here is another drink I wanna try and this is one of my favorite cereals... Fruity pebbles frappuccino: so this is a regular frappuccino but with some different stuff, so I really want to taste this because I really love fruity pebbles. If you love it too, then you will like the drink. So this is how you order it, ”may I have a strawberries & creme frappuccino with 2 pumps of vanilla syrup and 1 pump of raspberry syrup and a splash of orange-mango juice if possible.”
Another drink that’s on the secret menu that I really loved is… Cake batter frappuccino. Don’t worry, it’s not real cake batter so the drink is like cake batter but more liquidy. So here is how you order the drink “may I have a vanilla bean frappuccino, add 1 pump tall of hazelnut syrup, 2 pumps venti, 1.5 pumps grande."
So here is another drink you should try if you love banana splits This is a banana split frappuccino, sorry if you wanted a real banana split, this is just a drink. So it’s basically a drink that’s like a banana split but instead you drink it. Here is what it has in it: vanilla bean powder, java chips, and other things. This is how you order it, “may i have a strawberries and creme frappuccino. Can you add vanilla bean powder with java chips, a whole banana and can you top it off with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and caramel drizzle. Please and thank you”. PS: they might charge you extra for the whole banana.
Here are 5 kid friendly drinks to get with your parents at Starbucks.
1. Captain crunch frappuccino: Here is how you order it….”may I have a strawberries and creme frappuccino, ½ pump of caramel, 1 pump of grand , 1.5 of venti. Can you also add 1 pump of of toffee syrup, 1.5 pups of grande, and 2 pumps of venti. And may you also add ½ pump of hazelnut syrup, 1 pump of grande, and 1.5 pumps of venti”. And if your child wants some crunch, add some java chips.
2. Cookies and creme frappuccino: Here is how you order it, “may i have a double chocolate chip frappuccino, blend it with white mocha sauce instead of regular mocha". And you can top it with chocolate or whip cream.
3. Chocolate covered strawberries frappuccino. Here is how you order it, "may I have a strawberries and creme frappuccino, add java chips and can you top it with mocha drizzle”.
4. Bubble gum frappuccino: Here is how you order it …. “May I have a strawberries and creme frappuccino. No classic syrup (unless you like it sweet). Add 1 pump of raspberry syrup, 2 pumps of grande and 3 pumps of venti please”.
5. Neapolitan frappuccino: If you don’t know what Neapolitan is, it’s a ice cream flavor. The most common flavors are vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Here is how you order it... "May I have a strawberries and creme frappuccino, can you add a scoop of vanilla bean powder, 1.5 scoops of venti, add 1 pump of mocha syrup, 2 pumps of grande, 3 pumps of venti. And may you please put chocolate whip cream and chocolate drizzle".
