NASA is developing new ways to transport people and packages, in fact, NASA is developing drones for even small packages to be delivered in, safely, efficiently and quickly. The company dubbed the little drone “ UAM”, which stands for “ Urban Air Mobility”. Their goal in this little invention is to travel easier and more efficiently through dense cities like New York. NASA is also developing an Aero Taxi which is part of the urban mobility project. This Taxi is used to take passengers above populated areas. NASA estimated that in 2030, over fifty million flights to deliver packages and over 750 million flights for “ Air Metro Services.” in the future. NASA is planning to launch the mars rover in 2020 this coming summer. The Mars rover has special equipment and is one of the most expensive pieces of machinery to be launched and is planning to be sent to space in the summer of 2020. The rover is planned to be landed in a crater and take pictures for research. According to NASA “In 2024 the big space company wants to send the first woman into space”. This company’s inventions are creating and shaping the future for space launches and mechanical work. NASA has many space trips and sometimes they need something to help beforehand. That’s why they are developing a plan and named it “Deep Space Atomic Clock.” This little invention helps them predict and helps navigate for space missions ahead of time. According to NASA, they are also working on a city air-bus. It has four seats and is multi-copter and is going to be used for urban transportation. Going back to the topic around sending the first woman to space, but she isn’t working alone in this mission, they are sending a man and woman to the moon for the first time in almost five decades. NASA is an expanding company and is shaping and creating the way we live, work and wonder about what’s in space. This company is breaking barriers and will continue to do so, I’m sure of in the future. Story by Sydney Hansen ![]() You’re reading this article right now, most likely on a computer or tablet. Probably completely ordinary task. But how ordinary is it for younger children or how good is it for them. Is it good for them to understand the way the modern world works or it bad for them? Will this generation be dependant on technology. How bad is it if you introduce your child to technology at a young age. If it is bad could you be endangering your very own child? Well to answer all of those questions we have Are iPads and tablets bad for young children? They claim “they aren’t good for young children but they help children develop skills for the modern world. An easy way to start them off is a tablet.” According to What's the Right Age to Introduce Your Kid to Computers? Babies don’t have the cognitive or physical skills to make it worth your time or theirs. They don’t understand even the simplest of all the technical devices. Meaning they probably shouldn’t be exposed to such complex things. Ages two to three should be slowly exposed to tablets and other simple devices. Also according to What's the Right Age to Introduce Your Kid to Computers? Ages two to three should have minimal time on computers. Even only minutes per day. 3rd to 4th graders that are confident with things like computer usually demonstrate success for their future ahead. A child that has mastered the computer will have access to the modern world easily. These new systems and technologies could affect our world dramatically for the better. Story by Zoe Stock ![]() “Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived.” That is the rhyme to remember King Henry the Vlll’s 6 wives. This rhyme is used a lot in the new musical SIX, which features Adrianna Hicks (Catherine of Aragon), Abby Mueller (Jane Seymour), Andrea Macasaet (Anne Boleyn), Brittney Mack (Anne of Cleves), Courtney Mack (Katherine Howard), and Anna Uzele (Catherine Parr). The new musical SIX (written by Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow) is about King Henry Vlll’s 6 wives creating a girl singing group. They each take turns singing about their time with King Henry Vlll and whoever had the worst experience with him gets to be the lead singer of the group. According to BBC News, Ariana Grande, Adele, and Rihanna are among the other pop stars who have inspired the characters in the musical SIX. SIX has been performing in a few states, some of which include Illinois, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. According to The New York Times, “SIX” will begin performances February 13, 2020 and open March 12th at Atkinson Theater, produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes, George Stiles, and Kevin McCollum. The history behind the musical dates all the way back to the year 1509 when King Henry Vlll married Catherine of Aragon. He then married Anne Boleyn after he and Catherine got divorced. Then a few years later when Anne Boleyn got beheaded in the London Tower, he married Jane Seymour 11 days later. Unfortunately, Jane died while giving birth to her son. After she died, King Henry Vlll went on to marry Anne of Cleves, who Henry divorced. After their divorce, he married Katherine Howard. He then figured out that Katherine was in love with her distant cousin so he had her beheaded. Then he married his 6th and final wife: Catherine Parr. Catherine Parr was the only wife to survive in her time of being married to Henry. She was there when he died and constantly feared her own execution. The idea of the musical is to show all of these experiences from the wives perspectives. Lots of good reviews have been left on the musical, which tells me it’s a very well written and produced show. If you’re into musical theater, I suggest looking into see it in March! Story by Natalie Edgens The start of a new school year means the return to daily homework, an often dreaded task and the root of parent-student strife that leaves some parents wondering if it’s worth it. The answer, experts say, is complicated.
![]() Introduction- Now I'm sure you all know about the original primary colors which are red, blue, and yellow, but are those really the primary colors and if so, why? Firstly, the answer to if red, blue, and yellow are primary colors, no they are not. According to Learn the actual primary colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow. The theory behind that is yellow and magenta make red, yellow, well is yellow, and magenta and cyan make blue/violet. So if you think about it, if red, yellow, and blue can be made from pre-existing colors, so they are not primary colors. If you look at the color wheel in this article it shows that yellow, magenta, and cyan also can make green, (Green is not a primary color.) Why did the primary colors change?- According to John Muir Laws the Conventional Color theory using red, yellow, and blue won't work. If you were painting a pretty picture with those colors, eventually when you mix too much it would turn the color of mud, and your painting would be ruined. Whereas if you were painting a picture with yellow, cyan, and magenta, the colors would just form new colors. Even your TV works this way with yellow, cyan, and magenta, and even theatres lights so that they can hit in the same spots to make different colors. But in the real world, red, blue, and yellow are actually the primary colors. In the color spectrum, light, and physics the primary colors are yellow, magenta, and cyan. Stephen Westland, Professor of Colour Science at the University of Leeds in England claims that, "We see because light enters our eyes," he says. "Light enters our eyes in two ways: directly from a light source; and reflected from an object. This leads to two types of colour mixing, additive and subtractive." Conclusion- In conclusion, the colors red, yellow, and blue are actually the primary colors in one way. And yellow, cyan, and magenta are the primary colors in another. Red, yellow, and blue are the primary colors in real life situations such as painting. But magenta, cyan, and yellow are the primary colors in technological ways, like light waves, radio waves, and TVs. If you look up on google what the primary colors are, it will say red, yellow, and blue. But if you do more research then you'll find out the back story behind it. Thank you for reading and I hope this cleared everything up! Story by Ciella Steury ![]() Bowling is a very popular sport and goes way back into history. A German historian named William Pehle said that bowling began in his country about 300 AD. The English, Dutch and German settlers imported their own variations of bowling to America. In 1841 it was illegal to have any bowling lanes because bowling was the object of much gambling. But many captains of industry installed bowling lanes in their mansions. By the late 1800s it was prevalent in many states and slowly came to every state. But details like ball weight and pin dimension varied by region. On September 9, 1895, at Beethoven Hall in New York City, the American Bowling Congress was born. Bowling balls are designed to perform best on different types of surfaces and to compliment the style and strength of each individual bowler. Manufactures use three different kinds of plastic as coverstock material. They are Polyester, urethane and, reactive urethane. To make the core of the ball a mold is formed to the core shape developed. Then the appropriate material is poured into the core mold and allowed to harden and last the solid core is removed from its mold. The finished core is placed inside a spherical mold called the coverstock mold. The core is attached to a pin that projects inward from the shell of the mold. After you are done with that you fill all the gaps. To finish the bowling ball you shape it to the proper size specification by turning it on a lathe and shaving off enough coverstock to achieve the right shape of a bowling ball. There are different health benefits of bowling so keep reading if you want to know some. The first one is Muscle toning and strengthening, this is because Bowling helps promote muscle exercise of the lower body, as you are doing a lot of walking with the extra weight of a bowling ball in your hands. Another one is Weight loss, because it helps you slim down by speeding up your metabolism. Although the game is restricted to a small area, your constant movement while playing helps burn excess fat. It also helps Reduce risk of disease, a sedentary lifestyle is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease. Bowling also lowers your risk of stroke, heart attacks, diabetes, increases bone density, improves circulation, lowers cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and helps your body utilize oxygen better! Though horoscopes are not rooted in science they are used in many cultures to put people into groups based on indicated trates. In harder times Sagittarius’s can be unreliable making Virgos and Pisces a less stable pair. Capricorn- Ambitious Capricorns work hard to build safety and security in their lives. Caps work to build strong foundations for all of their relationships. The air sign appreciates high level thinking and are motivated by doing work to improve the lives of all people. Like-minded air signs, Gemini and Libra appreciate Aquarian energy. Aquarius’s big plans energize the other air signs and allow them to thrive. The Leo and Aquarius pair creates a surprising duo that has a phenomenal socially intelligent couple. At times, Aquarian idealism can become righteous. Taurus and Scorpio may feel attacked by Aquarius’ strict morality Pisces- Pisces are known for their sweet dispositions and enchanting creativity. Pisces have sharp instincts and are good at picking up on the energies around them. Other sea creatures, such as Cancers and Scorpios, are great matches for Pisces. A Pisces paired with its opposite, Virgo can also form a strong pair. Virgo and Pisces are both generous and benefit from each others kindness and support. On more difficult days Pisces can be easily wounded and Gemini and Sagittarius can become frustrated with Pisces delicate ego. As you can see there are many different relationships that can be formed from the different star signs. Well, you can now clone your pets and other animals. If you clone a dog, it will begin as a baby and will not remember you, However, it will look exactly like the dog you wish to duplicate. Cloning is a new discovery we have started practicing in these past 30 years. We have not been able to clone humans in the past 35 years, but we have been able to clone monkeys. We are getting closer every day to cloning humans. Just a year ago, Oregon cloned a monkey. This is a big achievement because monkeys are primates. At first, we weren't able to clone primates and bigger species. In the future, we will be able to clone humans and bigger animals like elephants and whales. Many animals have been cloned in the past 25 years. The first cloned animal was a salamander. The next big cloning project was Dolly the sheep. Dolly, the sheep was a rare Finn Dorset species of sheep that they bred with a normal sheep. This was the first cloning process that made humans ask themselves, “Can we clone ourselves and others?” Today we have gone so far, we even cloned a monkey. Many things will be cloned in the future, right now we are trying to clone extinct animals, but we are far from getting close. As we progress we will bring back new types of animals. What do you think will be cloned next? Lastly, we all have to wait to clone humans, because there are rules against doing that. The government won’t allow anyone to clone humans. in 2002, it was claimed that the first human clone was made but there was no evidence to support the claim. There are going to be many new discoveries in cloning. Right now, they are trying to bring back the mammoth. Their only problem is that we are just at the beginning of the age of cloning. Overall, we should all look up to the new discoveries about cloning.
