A Happiness Mindset

An optimist is someone who tends to be happy and hopeful for future events that could happen, somebody who doesn't look on the down side. These people have smiles on their faces, even in dark times. In the world, there are very few optimists. Society today has a norm of negativity that floats around in the air for each person to breathe in. Negativity can appear in things people around you say, things people around you do, and things that you yourself decide to think or take action on.

Many people these days don't pay attention to negative comments. In fact, at least half of all the words people say show an emotion that is negative. This could be because of many reasons, such as issues relating to home, influences around you, fights with friends, and more. However, there are ways to alter your mindset to help prevent a large amount of negative/sad thoughts and actions.

For example, one way in which you can change your mindset is by recognizing your thoughts. If you are walking down the street, sometimes the thoughts going on inside your head can go by without you truly even acknowledging them. So, if you can take recognition to what you are thinking and it is negative, one way to stop these thoughts is by redirecting those feelings to positive ones. Another way you can make your mindset seem cheerier is by doing something that seems like a simple task, like saying thank you. People say thank you many times a day, for things ranging from another person holding open a door for you, to a waitress bringing you food. Although this is a good start, it won't make a huge impact on your mind. What matters is getting into a sort of schedule for saying thank you.

If people can write down every morning three things they are thankful for, it can make them more appreciative of the things around them. Another thing you could do with these grateful thoughts is put them into an email. Writing to people in your life about how you value their influence on you can not only make your relationship with them stronger, but also start off the other person's day on a higher note. Over the course of time, the more you do this, the more friendships you will have that have gained the benefit of this practice.

Being grateful for things in your life can change your viewpoint. Everyday, the more things you can think of that make you happy, the greater the effect of it. If your current point of view is looking at things in a negative manner, thinking of those things in a happier way can reconstruct how you think. The more joyful ideas that you put into your reconstruction can influence that many things in your life to make them more enjoyable. Changing your mindset can be hard, but if the proper amount of work is put in, it can be done. All of the examples listed in the above paragraphs show ways in which you can alter a mindset. Reaping the benefits of happiness will always be one of the grandest prizes someone can achieve.
