The first cake was created in the 13th century by the Egyptians, but it wasn’t called a cake to them is was called a kaka. Medieval European bakers made fruit cakes and gingerbread. The ancient greeks also made cake or “πλακοῦς” it was baked using flour, eggs, milk, nuts, and honey. They made sponge cakes too, and cake had originated from the Renaissance. There are a lot of flavors of cake; red velvet is one of the most popular along with chocolate, vanilla or yellow cake, lemon, coconut, lime, champagne, and carrot cake. There are lots of cakes and lots of national cakes days for some of the types and flavors.
